First thoughts – loved the story! It is very well written and flowed smoothly. All the alternating chapters were the perfect way to keep me hooked. I had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next. The author has a lovely way with world building. This is one of those books I could easily see playing out as a show. The overall story arc was intriguing and since this was my first book of hers I do plan on reading her earlier series which I seem to think ties into this world, but years earlier. I don’t think you need to read the earlier ones to enjoy this book. At least, I didn’t! The story kept me curious and then excited as the tension built up. I will be continuing this series, can’t wait for book two!Realm of Beasts is the first book in the Legend of the Nameless One series.Final Rating: 5 Stars
Ms. Ford has a great talent for vivid descriptions; she paints beautiful pictures with words. I enjoyed reading The Five Warriors, the first book in her Four Worlds series, so I jumped at the opportunity to get her new book right away. The story is very interesting, so well-written that the reader can see the settings, get to know the characters and feel like you’re involved in the action. This book is a good stand-alone story, even without having read the entire Four Worlds series, as it makes references to events therein. Because of those references, since I have the other books in the Four Worlds series in my TBR pile, this will make me bring them closer to the top of the pile. I am also looking forward to the next book, Realm of Mortals.
An interesting enjoyable fantasy adventure - the beginning to a promising new series.Very well written, with a good plot and storyline, it is full of intrigue, in a well thought out universe.With magic, beasts, good vs. evil and much, much, more including Ava, the snarky dragon, it is abstract at times and humorous at others, the reader is held captive in the pages right up to the very end.The main protagonists, Citrine and Tor Lir are well defined and each have to learn to trust and work with each other to overcome the different obstacles in their path.A captivating and fascinating read.
OMG what a writer!This amazing book not only has characters whom you immediately feel you have know well for some time, and discover that you actually care about them.The storyline is rich and varied, set in a world I personally want to visit - maybe move to?If you want a casual read - the sort you pick it up, read a bit and put down,DO NOT buy this book.Personally, I Love/Hate staying up waaay too late because I simply MUST turn the next page. Rarely have I been so engrossed so early and sustained at that level for hours.If that is your kind of book, then you will Love and Rave about it. Yes, there is plentiful Magic and Mystery, Danger and Triumph, Joy and Anguish - and you will relish every moment of it all. My word of HonorBUY THIS BOOK and enjoy a FABULOUS read!
This author has a wonderful gift. With her expert use of words, she puts you in the center of her stories. All your senses awaken. You smell the air be it sweet or dank. You can hear and feel the dead grass splintering under your feet as you walk. You can tasted the sweet magical fruit put forth on the table and feel every emotion that every character experiences. I am a big fan and have been since the beginning the authors literary journey.
A very enjoyable fantasy adventure that was an excellent start to a new series. Very well written with great world building and a good storyline that holds the readers attention. An excellent character in Citrine and plenty of magic in the authors writing. A highly recommended fantasy story that you will definitely enjoy.
This Fantasy Adventure story will have you absorbed in her story. Characters come alive in your imagination and the world she has built is spectacle! I highly recommend reading this book and continuing with the series.
It took me a little bit to keep up with the mischief of Citrine and the aloofness of Tor Lir. But after a little bit, it was nonstop intrigue! Citrine is a tall order of temper and wildness. Tor Lir is inquisitive and rational. A great balance between the duo. What a fun, magical land! I can’t wait for this duo’s next journey. And Ava of course - because who doesn’t love sarcastic dragons? I mean come on?
