regarding the end of the Disappointing. This book is entitled "Nurses of the Civil War" It is assumed that is the subject. It is not. It is about it t the women who had been nurses during the civil war who were left without plan and purpose. These women were sent to be mail order brides. One gets the feeling the book is still, at least to some degree about the ending of the civil war and what happened thereaftr. It, unlike most historical fiction books, fails to ficture incidents common to those women who dealt with post traumatic difficulties making it just another romance complication and it fails miserable when compared to other such historical fiction works such as those by Janette Okw.
Although I vowed never to get any more of Miss Smith's books because of a lack of a working index, I'k glad I got this one. The stories are interestingand well written.
I enjoyed reading all of the stories included in this collection. Though some were shorter than I like each story was finished in an upbeat tone.
A couple of short stories about civil war nurses, then mail order brides. All involve taking a risk on love and a new life
For light reading these were very good. Enjoyed all of the stories.

these are marvellous stories of this tempestuous time in america's history. these are beautiful love stories with much period detail and medical detail of the work these courageous women did while they worked with the injured men under difficult circumstances. i received this arc for review consideration. i think these are the very best of faith-ann's books and can recommend them wholeheartedly and i loved them all.
A wonderful series of stories about strong, resourceful women who cared for the wounded during the Civil War. The stories of their lives and romances are some of the best writing of Faith-Ann. I very highly recommend it as a series or as individual books. It is very powerful to read it all together as one. I received these ARC books for my honest opinion.
