I am really enjoying these books, and sincerely appreciate the broad overview and inclusive standpoint of the author. I also am very happy with the little bonus book! I definitely recommend this to anyone just starting out with learning about Wicca, as it is a pretty light read. It is a very good introductory set of books.My only negative note would be that the overview says that book one is Candle Magic, when this book is not included in the set.

What I really enjoyed about this book is Chamberlain's emphasis on finding your own oath and there is no one, true way to the practice. Chamberlain gives a great bird's eyes view of the main branches of "traditional" Wicca and the more nebulous "eclectic" form. The guide didn't force me into one direction or another and emphasized finding your own path.

This collection of books reads very smoothly and is very inviting for new practitioners of any form of the craft. It provided details on many subjects, some of which I had yet to think of, all without being overwhelming or difficult to digest. Chamberlain's work has made me feel more comfortable upon my own path and has further inspired my desire to read additional works from other authors.

This is a great, unbias introduction to Wicca. Lisa's words keep you intrigued but do not force you to decide which path is best for you. Additional reading references are provided at the end of each book; a perfect stepping stone to continue your Wiccan research.

I really enjoyed this series. The author shared her knowledge in a way that was easy to understand and consistent, which I appreciate as someone who's just coming into Wicca and the Craft.

All of the information in this book is presented in a way that is easy to understand and very informative. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and what’s more is the author includes a recommended reading list for each subject she covers so that you know where else to look. I’ve purchased some of the books on her lists and haven’t been disappointed yet. I would recommend it to anyone trying to get started in the craft.

This is a great compilation set to learn the foundations of Wicca. I like Lisa Chamberlain’s style if writing. It’s easy to understand and concise. I use this book in my Wicca 101 classes.

Bought it for my son, he seems to love it, although he was slightly disappointed due to its lack of reptile information (He says its only a 4 page section). We are buying it's counterpart, the textbook, because some concepts aren't very well described to a new learner. Would probably be great for a veterinary student or a revision for a current vet or vet technician.

Not many diagrams but that is not the point. Clear and concise and a helpful learning tool. Now if I could just get rid of the horrible stench the book has I could look at it more. Not certain if returning it for another would help, I figure they are all stored the same. Three star for smell and will be returning for hopefully a copy that does not reek.

I'm super happy! The book seems to be super easy to understand and I think it's a great starting point for me. Thank you so, so much!

Honestly, it's the only reason why I passed my first semester of Vet tech since I didn't have much time to study. It gives you all key facts straight at the beginning of the section and plenty of hints and puzzles to force the info into your brain.

I recently finished this Great mystery novel called" ONE DOG NIGHT" in the "Andy Carpenter Novel" Series by David Rosenfelt and I can say I found a new favorite series! The author has been writing this series since 2003 and I happened to buy one on Amazon because there was a dog on the cover (yeah, I'm an easy sell when it comes to dogs). Turns out, the author is also very partial to dogs and has them on every cover of his series about an attorney. The story was fast-paced, exciting, and had great characters (including the dog). I LOVE it when authors write short chapters, and that's the style of this book. The characters are funny, witty, serious, smart and realistic. I was surprised by the ending in this book and loved it! FIVE out of FIVE stars! - Rob

I love the Andy Carpenter books and have enjoyed all the previous ones. However, this one is simply boring. The plot is way too convoluted and the switch between first and third person never does it for. Generally I won’t buy any such books and delete the sample from my Kindle reader. I only continued because it is an Andy Carpenter book. Since I'm picking on Andy Carpenter and after reading several books, the perfect, god-almighty Laurie is starting to grate on me and Andy’s continuous boasting about his sex drive is a wee bit over the top.

I like David Rosenfelt' books about lawyer Andy Carpenter very much. "One Dog Night", the latest entry, is an entertaining read, featuring all the qualities series followers have come to expect: Andy's self-deprecating and/or outrageous sense of humor ("In fact, of all the mass murderers I have ever met, I think I like Noah Galloway the best."), Andy's obsession with watching sports on television, Andy's reluctance to take cases, Andy's relationship with his live-in lover and private investigator Laurie Collins, Andy's nearly-impossible-to-prove-not-guilty client, Andy's courtroom antics, Andy's super-hacker accountant Sam Willis, and Andy's friends Detective Pete Stanton and newspaper editor Vince Sanders. Readers who appreciate Rosenfelt's formula for this series will like this book.Marcus Clark, a very tough, very scary man who often investigates for Andy, and who is probably my favorite of all the series' minor characters, reveals a little more about himself to Andy on trip to Vegas. Edna, Andy's barely working secretary, and Hike Lang, the extraordinarily pessimistic lawyer who currently assists Andy when he does take a case, are also in the novel. Willie, a former client and Andy's partner in the Tara Foundation, which finds good homes for dogs, makes very minor appearances.Of course, Tara, Andy's golden retriever makes several appearances. I'm an animal fanatic, so I consider Tara the central figure in each book in the series, no matter how much or how little she is in it. Once again she has a dog friend visiting her, this time her friend is Bailey of whom Andy comments: "Becky says she's a mastiff...but I think she might be a horse. I even think I might have bet on her once."In this outing, Andy's client is Noah Galloway, who is arrested for locking 27 people in an apartment building, which he set on fire. Twenty-six of the people died. The fire occurred six years prior to the arrest. Defending Noah is challenging, in part because he admits he committed the crime and wants to be punished for it. As usual, Andy calls upon his detective and newspaper editor friends, as well as on his FBI friend for help. As usual, he gets by with some legal maneuvers that judges would probably not allow in the real world.I do miss the song game that Andy used to play with Sam, and more participation by Willie. Also in this book a few of the same lines were used by more than one character, and they have been used in previous books. It would give the series more sparkle if the dialogue continued to be humerous, but was little more diverse and maybe a new element or two were added to the Carpenter formula. So a three and three-quarters stars. But I'll be buying the next Andy Carpenter for sure. If you've never read the other books in this series, you may want to start with the first one: "Open and Shut".

Another decent book in the Andy Carpenter series. I think, however, that Rosenfelt can get more into the characters. They are reasonably developed, but more would be nice ... especially Marcus. We learned a bit about him in this book while he was in Las Vegas. The ending seemed a bit rushed, but not too bad. I don't like Hike. He is too annoying, really annoying. These books do not have the depth of Grisham, but they are fun to read.The Kindle version had a few spelling mistakes here and there and STILL NO CHAPTERS.

Andy Carpenter, the wise-cracking, independently wealthy New Jersey defense attorney is back - defending a guy who insists he's guilty! Noah Galloway is accused of killing 26 people in an arson fire - SIX YEARS AGO. Galloway remembers nothing because he was a low life drug addict at the time. An informant comes forward to say Galloway confessed to him while at a homeless shelter shortly after the fire. While Galloway thinks he's guilty - he remembers nothing.Carpenter finds the informant too convenient with too much detailed information - Galloway doesn't remember so how did he "confess" to the crime? Why the six year wait?As with all Rosenfelts books so much more is going on behind the scenes. Back are Laurie Collins, Sam, Hike, Marcus and Pete Stanton. And Tara takes center stage as Galloway was her owner - the one who left her at the shelter for Andy to adopt.Rosenfelt never takes a straight line to the truth. You might find yourself wishing he would hurry, until you realize you have to wait for him to write another book. Highly recommend.

Murder mystery on the light side; our hero is Andy Carpenter; a lawyer who cares; obviously a work of fiction. Andy is like an old fashioned gumshoe with a great sense of humor and irony along with a very clever mind and relatively hapless when it comes to physical confrontations. However he has lurking protective muscle in Marcus and his lady love is a police officer so he's covered. Highly recommend the Andy carpenter Series.

Robert M. Adams was Professor of English (Emeritus) at the University of California at Los Angeles. The original text of The Prince was written in 1513 and dedicated to Lorenzo de’ Medici, after Niccolò Machiavelli had been accused of conspiracy. In this text, Machiavelli analyzes the actions taken by popes and historical and Biblical princes in events that have taken place in Italy and throughout Europe during his lifetime to give advice on how to become a great prince. Machiavelli starts with the basics by describing various ways of rising to power: using one’s own arms and energy, using other people’s arms and luck, through crime, and by “choice of fellow citizens” (27). He continues by giving advice on every single aspect of being a prince: from military duties and selecting private counselors to acquiring a reputation and dealing with luck. While his work has been seen as controversial, the supporting evidence of the analysis of past events allows Machiavelli to make compelling arguments.It has been approximately 500 years since Machiavelli wrote The Prince, but it is striking to see the relevance of his work today. We may not live in a society of princes, but some of the advice can be applied in modern daily life as people find themselves in various leadership roles. For example, Machiavelli states that “if a prince conducts himself with patience and caution, and the times and circumstances are favorable to those qualities, he will flourish; but if times and circumstances change, he will come to ruin unless he changes his method of proceeding” (68), explaining that one must be flexible and change once the times indicate that the methods used will not work. Although some of the advice can be extreme, the reader can find something Machiavelli proposes and apply it to daily life.The Norton Critical Edition of Machiavelli’s The Prince provides relevant historical context and great analysis of the work that gives the reader a more complete understanding of the context and the various interpretations of The Prince. The historical introduction does a superb job at placing the reader in Florence in the 1500s. The analysis of The Prince includes Felix Gilbert’s essay on “Fortune, Necessity, and Virtù,” which is a great interpretation of Machiavelli’s use of these terms. Using analysis from other similar works, Gilbert also determines how Machiavelli’s ideas differ from that of his contemporaries. The analysis is complete with looking into interpretations of Machiavelli’s work and the influential nature of his methods and style.The text may be dense at times, but the footnotes really help the reader understand the context. I highly recommend the Norton Critical Edition if you are looking to explore the context and the impact of The Prince.

This is a great translation. The best thing about it is the historical context and explanations. Highly recommended. The text itself is well written and interesting.A lot of these historical books don't offer any context for idiomatic or cultural references. I shouldn't need a MA in history to read classic literature, and you don't need one to get a grip on this book.

Bought this, the book "Pet First Aid for Kids" and AKC Pet First Aid Kit, Animal X-Ray Set & Learning Resources Stethoscope for my granddaughter who loves animals, has 2 pet dogs and wants to be a veterinarian herself. It is a more age appropriate gift for an older child with such interests.

I love this book because it helped my daughter figure out what type of veterinarian she wants to be. She know she wanted to be a vet, but had no idea how many different jobs there are for vet's. Because of this book she found out she wanted to be a zoologist. I wish it talked about steps to becoming a zoologist. I wanted more about how to become a vet but it didn't. Still a good book

I bought this book because my 8 year old daughter wants to be a VET. She actually did enjoy the book but she also finished it in under 10 minutes. There is almost no text in the book it's mostly pictures with a sentence or two at most.This book reads a lot more like a free brochure you pick up a kids fair rather then an $8 book. For what you get I would say this book should be free.

I think that this book was not too bad, and is worth the buy, but it could be improved. Content wise it was not so bad, but it was the layout and presentation (amateur photographs) with heavily packed text. It looks like a scrapbook a child would throw together - and this may not necessarily be a bad thing considering the audience is children. I was really up in the air rating this one and would have given it a 4 if the organization was a bit cleaner. It deserves a 5 if it was organized a bit better "and" images were professional throughout - so you can see why I am saying it is worth a buy.If your child has an interest in becoming a vet this is a recommendable book, along with others, and let them decide if the content within is worth a visit.
