Decent study tool, but has some issues. Some spelling/grammar problems. Layout of topics a little confusing.

I liked how it broke it down into sections pertinent to the areas of testing and that it had a test at the end of each section. Some key info seemed to be missing that I recall learning and that was repeated extensively in my program. I will see how well it reviewed me as I take my test tomorrow.

I will join with many of the other reviewers and say that this book is a must read for anyone who has any type of self-defense weapon on their person or in their home. After reading the book, I've come to the sober conclusion that the law doesn't seem to favor the ordinary person who is simply trying to defend themselves. In order to prevail, it would seem that each person needs to have a law degree from Harvard, and the ability to slow down time in the event of lethal force situation. This is the case because the legal system, chops up your deadly force encounter, which is measured in seconds, into an esoteric academic exercise where the actions of the parties are scrutinized at the the nano-second level. One can almost imagine a panel of ancient philosophers, psychologists, and scholars evaluating who is in the right and who is in the wrong at any given fraction of a second in the timeline of events. In our system of justice, such reflection is done by the police, the DA's office, your defense attorney, and a jury of your peers -- folks who know nothing about the law.The author presents a very sobering view of how the legal system works for those who choose to defend themselves in a violent encounter. Yes, you may have killed the bad guy, and you may feel that you are right, but if the legal system choses to pursue your actions, you will have two outcomes; the price tag of your legal defense and your freedom, or, 20 years to life in prison. On several occasions, while reading, I thought that death or serious bodily injury might actually be a good option given the real possibility of jail for the rest of my life, a fate that might be assigned by a gun hostile jury or some real error I made in the deadly encounter.For all of those folks with high capacity magazines, heed this warning. Every single shot you fire in self-defense will be evaualted by the DA. As the author pointed out, there was a case where a subject fired 6 shots. Three were deemed self-defense, while the last 3 were considered attempted murder. The defender was convicted on the 3 "bad" shots and got a life sentence plus 90 years. So, a magazine with 20 rounds is a joke. If you shoot 20 rounds in a self defense case, you are in for a world of trouble with the justice system.Lastly, know your state laws. The author goes to great length to compare differences in state law for self-defense. Infact, the last third of this book, is a comprehensive digest of every state law for a meriad of serif-defense issues.This book is a must read for all gun owners.The purpose of this book, in my opinion, is to form a proper mental attitude for a self-defense situation. This book really makes you think about the "un-locks" you might have in order to draw a weapon and use it.

I purchased this book after seeing a positive review on a discussion forum from another forum member who took a live course with Andrew.I found it easy to read, entertaining and informative. I am a lawyer (but no experience with this area of law at all since law school years ago), and think it is well-suited to the general reader, as well as to lawyers or others more familiar with legal concepts and approaches - the author doesn't over-simplfy conplex concepts, but also makes the subject matter easily approachable.I also very much appreciate that the author maintains a website with up-to-date law revisions and new case law, as well as providing commentary on recent news stories / reports of defensive (or, regrettably, not) firearms use.There were a few instances of material / concepts that were substantially repeated only a paragraph or two away from previous, similar instances (*not* in the chapter summaries that are provided after each chapter) that a better job of editing might have addressed, but that did not, IMHO, detract from the overall value of the information presented or the style in which it was presented and explained.I think this book is an incredibly valuable resource for anyone who owns a firearm that might be used in a self-defense situation, and without hesitation would recommend it to the responsible firearm owner.

I am impressed with this book. I live in North Carolina and recently took a concealed carry course (which is required here prior to a concealed carry permit being issued). I bought this book because it was well reviewed. I didn't know what to expect; but, I must say, I am very impressed with this book.It is impossible to write a book that is thorough and explicit on the laws of concealed carry in all jurisdictions. That said, this book does a very fine job of approaching this task with the ever present caveat that laws in all jurisdictions are fluid things. The bulk of the book explores fundamental legal principles involved in deadly force applications, along with case law discussions applicable to specific historic instances in which deadly force was used.I honestly did not expect that this book would be so captivating. It is well written, in an informal language, that makes it very easy to comprehend and very difficult to put down once one has begun reading it.

When it comes to knowing the law when it comes to defending yourself, this is the book to read. Andrew Branca has studied the case law in all 50 states and gives you the a fairly comprehensive review. You get the 5 key ingredients for a successful self-defense case with how different states treat them. The difference between Castle doctrine, Stand your ground and self-defense. The illustrations are gorgeous. The CD is perfect but those not familiar with Creole might have difficulty understanding.

So excited I finally found this book; however, when it arrived I was shocked to find the book had significant water damage, split spine and no DVD. Clearly a the description was misrepresentation of the actual product.

My students loved this story. I recommend it to teachers and librarians as a great read aloud with an interesting story and positive theme.

Wow this short story packs a punch….full of action, intrigue, brutality and revenge counterbalanced by humour, a tender love story and hot raw sex…Drake is the archetypal alpha mafia boss, he is powerful, violent and ruthless but also so caring, possessive and protective of the woman he loves…Trinity is his soulmate.…she has had a traumatic past but remains sweet, strong and ‘resilient’….I particularly loved her thought processes as she attempts to navigate her way through the complexities of the mafia hierarchy and protocol…This is a short story with a full length novel begging to get out…I think it is such a shame that this wonderful set of characters and in particular this couple did not get a longer time in the limelight….I felt that there was so much more backstory to be divulged as well as more detailed plot development…This is an unputdownable exciting and compelling romantic read…..

3.5 starsOn the Rocks is the second book I have read by Nikki Belaire. I really like her writing, it sucks me in immediately. I loved Drake's possessiveness and how protective he was of Trinity. I thought Trinity was insecure and weak in the beginning but she definitely proved she isn't. Now the issues I did have and I'm not sure if this is the author's pattern but I feel like we get a partial story. The book just starts in a scene and we get some background by flashbacks and like the first book this one has a kidnapping but no satisfied punishment of the kidnapper especially for a dangerous mafia man. Also while I liked the amnesia situation because Trinity didn't need to live with what was done to her, I find it hard to believe that within a week a rape kit would be inconclusive. I'm no expert but wouldn't there be some kind of trauma to that area. Anyway even with some minor issue I like this author and I plan to read more.

Drake & Trinity come REAL close to taking my top spot of favorite Nikki Belaire couples.....sorry Nick & Shae (Wine & Whiskey). This is billed as a novella but it seemed like a full length novel. A bit dark & suspenseful at times but the love between Drake & Trinity was absolutely beautiful. Drake worshipped his bride with an intensity that just bled through the pages. The reader just FEELS it. He would do anything & kill anyone for Trinity. Drake just wants to protect her, shield her from his world....but he fails. Hey, I already told you it was suspenseful. Who doesn’t love a man who loves his wife so much he will do anything to keep her happy! Trinity is a beautiful young woman who had a rough upbringing. Always feeling like no one wanted her until Drake comes along and sweeps her off her feet. He vows to protect her always. Until one day, that vow is broken. Does Trinity come back to him? The chemistry between these characters is thru the roof. I could feel the love between them so vividly. So many emotions that I had to read this book in one sitting! I truly enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it!

I have mixed emotions about this book. I felt like I was dropped into the middle of a story. I even went back to see if I had missed the first book or something. Because of that, I had a difficult time connecting with the story. I enjoyed the love that was obvious between them, but I couldn't understand where it came from without the missing part of the story. It was an enjoyable book, but it could have been a much better book if we weren't floundering around trying to connect the pieces that weren't there.

I love this author, she always has a way with her characters and captures your attention with each alpha male and female that can keep up with the possessive and intensity brought into the relationships. I love Trinity and Drake, with the protection and caring Drake shows Trinity after the life she's led and the hard time she has trusting, she falls for Drake and all he is. Sexy and steamy doesn't even cover the relationship between these two. If you want a sexy quick novella this is for you.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a true love story between two people. Drake who finds a broken woman, Trinity, and makes her his wife. He showers her with love and affection, cares for her in so many ways. And Trinity who can not believe that things are for real. She grew up in foster homes and did not have the love and attention from anyone to feel the love. This was such a good story and I would recommend it to anyone who believes in love and happily ever after.

I really enjoyed this one. Short fast paced read sure to get your heart pumping.I too wish it had been longer. More details added; more back story etc. Also, I would like to see a some of the 'resolution' instead of just being told 'bad guy taken care of' and, who got the 10mil?but still an enjoyable hour long book. no cliffy and no typos etc.

She's usually computer geeking while he's out in the field but they suddenly get up close and personal when Radley is sent in to rescue Honor from the clutches of a cult.It's heart-stopping, teeth-clenching, shoulder-checking action all the way through. I even had the shiveries during the 'quiet' scenes as I anticipated what kind of mayhem was only a page turn away. This book is straight to the point, has great drawings, funny mnemonics, and especially useful charts to help you memorize organisms. Although, it's geared towards studying for boards. I use it as a tool to study for my microbiologist license. Since, there's so much to remember in microbiology, this book makes it fun and enjoyable.

Thanks to this book and the style used to write it, in conjunction with appropriate and entertaining little drawings, I know every single bit of microbiology and correct antibitic for select organism forever. There is no way you can forget what you've learn with this incredible method!! Microbio has sincerely become my favorite topic. Honestly!

I would call this a kind of hybrid book. It's between a microbiology textbook and something like First Aid — more information than a review resource would have, but not as much as Robbins or Schaecter have. The silly pictures and relaxed writing style helped me remember some concepts in a way akin to SketchyMicro. However, the book is not short — it's around 300 pages, although the print is fairly large and there are big pictures. I didn't get through the whole book during my micro course, what with all the other resources floating around. Still, I did benefit from reading through the half I completed — bacteria, antibiotics, and fungi.Not as high-yield as MicroCards or First Aid for review. Not a replacement for a proper textbook and course notes for learning the material. But as a companion resource, quite handy. Give it a look.

This is a perfect book if you're studying for Step 1. The authors do an amazing job of breaking down the material into manageable, understandable concepts and, on top of that, provide the reader with fantastic mnemonics on how to memorize the material. I did very well on Step 1 and I think this book has helped me a great deal with achieving the high score. Highly recommend.

best microbiology textbook I've ever had, it's fun and easy to read, doesn't feel like you're studying!

This book is awesome! I am a second year medical student and am using this for the micro section instead of the recommended text. Everything is so well organized and explained and the summary tables at the end of each chapter are a huge help. I would definitely recommend this text, you can't go wrong!

This book is outstanding. It is incredibly efficient, in that the sections written are the major pieces of microbiology that a healthcare professional should know. I really wish this book was used instead of the text I had to use in my microbiology class. Very comprehensive and well focused for healthcare.

As such, it does not deal extensively with either the biblical evidence or the historical development of the Trinity but rather with unpacking the meaning and significance of the doctrine. While many works have dealt with the former, few have dealt with the latter and certainly not with the skill and clarity that McGrath brings to this problem.Using humor and illustrations drawn from everyday life to Quantum Mechanics, he assists the reader in grasping the limitations of language when speaking about the divine nature, the purpose of analogical models, and the semantics behind the theological language of the Trinity. Along the way, he also deals with some related and important issues (i.e., the existence of God and the denial of the hypostatic union). The final section includes an annotated bibliography for further study.In conclusion, McGrath has answered a wide range of criticisms and conceptual difficulties with creativity and aplomb.

He does a good job of explaining a difficult topic. I still don't understand it but in his book he makes it clear that non-understanding is perfectly natural and ok.

McGrath challenges the reader to a deeper recognition and hopefully, understanding of a centerpiece of Christian faith. The progression of chapters elevated the group discussion for our mens' circle.

This book is a pleasant quick read with basic information on the Trinity that would be enjoyed by many readers.
